M2 HELMET ~ D BALE PARATROOPER HELMET ~ D-DAY RELIC

FOUND IN NORMANDY

2014 it's the year of M2 !

This M2 paratroper hemet is picked up from an old D day relics collection in Normandy by a friend.

It's a rare M2 helmet, D ring are broken but it's a real piece of  D-Day !

Sure ! this helmet have jumped in the nignt of june 6th 1944 ! Not like all fakes that you can see on eBay or internet.

This WW2 paratrooper helmet has a provenance, it was found in a farm in Varenguebec, Normandy (50), the positions of the 505th and the 508th.

Lot 8324:

A U.S. 101st Airborne paratrooper helmet, identified by the ace of hearts from the 502nd PIR, retaining 50% of its paint and both insignia, period modified half-circle bale and M1 chinstrap. A second pattern liner added with leather padded chinstrap and small pattern bale. This famous unit was in the forefront of the U.S. parachute drops over Normandy on the 6th of June, 1944, especially in Sainte Mère l’Eglise where this helmet was found in the 1960s.
